Edit: Here’s the cool Today feed created by uzyn, who has penned his thoughts in the comments here. Thanks uzyn!

I’ve always liked the way Miyagi writes… entertaining, self effacing and most of all, he knows what he’s talking about. But today, he’s writing about some hacker dude ripping the content of Today and putting them into RSS.

Dude… that’s got nothing to do with Today being hacked. TODAY: TODAY hacked, it’s on your phone at My Very Own Glob {Curiosa Felicitas}.

This article actually started a short e-mail thread because I actually proposed RSS to a layperson (please don’t forget that about 88% of Internet users don’t know what the heck RSS is in the first place). After reading the article, the customer was worried that RSS presented a window for hackers to hack into the website.

Happily, things were cleared up and now there is excitement that RSS can be delivered to mobile phones as well.

So, Ben, thank you and damn you for your over-sensational, slightly innaccurate headline. :-)

Hi. I’m surprised that my little ‘creation’ is featured on TODAY today and am a little surprised with the headline.

I think Mr. Miyagi’s usage of the word ‘hack’ is quite accurate in the strict sense of the word, meaning to do something more than it’s originally intended to, but I afraid it may create a sense of negativity or illegal to common readers.

Well, thanks for mentioning that for me.

I guess you’re right. :-) I guess I was thinking from the POV that Today wasn’t hacked, but a hack was created to grab the articles from Today… but that’s just semantics lah.. it’s like arguing what pronounciation of Tomato is right hehehe…. awesome work btw!

Yuppers, you’re totally right. I just liked the term ‘hacked’ because it connoted something ‘unauthorised’, which is a good thing, because, as I pointed out, no one’s done an unauthorised feed for Straits Times or the New Paper yet. And yes, awesome work, U-Zyn, and I think the people at TODAY would think so too.
