A show that I really want to catch is An Inconvenient Truth, about global warming. The trailer has me sold (watch it here on YouTube). Any trailer that makes global warming look like a thriller is definitely a must-watch in my books - and this is in spite of the blatant americanism of the movie. But this got me surfing for more information about the environment, especially in the Singapore context, and here’s what I found:
- That carbon dioxide is actually good for the environment!!!! Experience the oxcrap here and here….
- That Singapore had finally acceded to the Kyoto protocol. The ruling government should be applauded for that. (Denise Phua should give me a national medal for this sentence… what with her tirade that the Internet is 85% anti-PAP and should be managed. I’ve got my own thoughts on this, but wrong post and blog
). Definitely a good flip flop from a goverment speech excerpt I inadvertantly found on the Internet that mentioned that
“Unlike other countries, we (Singapore) are unable to tap on renewable sources of energy or non-carbon alternatives in a big way” - Whatever happened to innovation? - That the Singapore actually has a green car rebate. But one question that came to mind - why only until 2007? However, I’m also heartened to see the Prius launching in Singapore, as well as the Honda Civic hybrid.
- As with everything else in Singapore, there is a commitee on this called the National Climate Change Committee. First time I got to know about this committee, so I can’t attest to their effectiveness, although I must say I’ve never known that there was an energy labelling system in place. Could use a bit more marketing there I guess.
Well that’s my piece as an environmentally concerned passenger. I’m not an activist by any means, but I’m definitely going to be doing my little piece to contribute. Having never gotten a driving licence is, I think, definitely a great start heheh

Hi Andrew. As far as I know it’s only “coming soon”. I saw the poster at Cathay so it’s not even shown in the cinemas yet. But yeah.. can’t wait to catch it.
