A post by Om Malik GigaOM : ยป Too Many Social Networks? echoes what I’m thinking right now, and links to the Business Week article that I’ve linked to before - there are too many social networks.

In addition to that, I can’t quite grasp the business model behind social networks yet. Advertising is definitely one of the ways, but even Friendster isn’t exactly reaping multi-millions in Asia from what I’ve noticed (and they do even have local representation in Singapore for media sales!) - this considering Asia’s their strongest market.

Still quite a while to mature methinks.

    IF it matures. Honestly, I don’t see the economic feasability in these things. Especially Friendster. But of course I could be wrong.
